Workers are demanding wage increases acrossΒ the board and abolition of theΒ provincial rate. They are protesting against the βBBMβ (Bongo BongoΒ Marcos)Β administration and theΒ so-called flood control anomalies. 3 trillion pesosΒ of the national budget has been corruptly siphoned offΒ by members of house representatives and government officials.Β All sectoral movements –Β youth, womenβs,Β activist studentsΒ and even ethnic cultural minorityΒ workers – haveΒ participated. Just this September 12, 2026, at 7:17 PM, following the APHEC Privatization Rallyβ which called attention to the proposed privatization of APHEC and its impact on ILPI electricity bills to Iliganons, a member of Kabataan Partylist was tailed and followed by state forces while on his way home. Two individuals were observed tailing βone on foot, while the other was riding a black-and-red XRM motorcycle, which was later used as their getaway vehicle. The motorcycle bore the plate number J5767F. This already rotten repressive process and desperate act of surveillance and intimidation is not an isolated incident. It is part of a recognized pattern of harassment against young people who organize, speak out, and fight back against unjust policies and attacks on our rights.
Kabataan Partylist β Iligan City Chapter condemns in the strongest possible terms these brazen acts of state surveillance and harassment against our youth. While the people continue to suffer from rising prices in basic needs esp. the current electricity crisis, worsening poverty, and inadequate public services, billions in confidential and intelligence funds are instead funneled into the stateβs machinery of repressionβused to monitor, intimidate, and silence young people who dare to organize and fight against exploitation, oppression, and injustice. The reactionary state instead weaponizes public funds against the very people it is supposed to serve. Surveillance will not silence dissent. Harassment will not crush our resolve. Intimidation will not stop the youth from fighting back.
Youth should remain vigilant and confront these state-sponsored attacks with courage and collective action. Raging against state-fascism, we rise militant, determined and unyielding, fighting for the future that rightfully belongs to us. We will not cower. We will not be silenced. No intimidation, no surveillance, no harassment, and no repression can reduce the collective power of the Filipino youth. Through disciplined struggle and organized action, the youth militancy will be protracted!
Iliganon youth also reaffirms our uncompromising opposition to the Anti-Terrorism Law and NTF-ELCAC, a framework and agency weaponized for red-tagging, surveillance, and the criminalization of dissent. Rather than holding the corrupt to account, the state once again reveals its fascist character in directing its forces against those who dare to expose its rottenness. This law is not about justice β it is about repression. And we, the Filipino youth, will not be silenced.
Tonight, we call on fellow human rights organizations, youth formations, student organizations, and other advocates for human rights and democracy to stand with youth and student activists who continue to face surveillance, harassment, and intimidation. We urge our fellow advocates to condemn these attacks and amplify the call for genuine justice, accountability, and an end to state-sponsored repression.
Hands off youth activist. Stop the attacks!
