In Chile, three million people participated in street protests to sweep away the relics of the Pinochet regime and elect a left reformist president. At least one million joined the uprising in Colombia. There have been huge demonstrations against the reactionary Bolsonaro regime in Brazil. Tens of thousands of workers have been on strike in Mexico. Similar upheavals have rocked the entire sub-continent. Meanwhile, Cuba has seen the biggest ever mobilisations for democratic rights.
