The situation in Iran has been one of major protests and mass opposition to the Islamic Republic, most recently after the Woman, Life, Freedom protests that erupted across the whole country. Even during this year alone, there have been non-stop protests and strikes in practically all industries and sections of the society. This month, elections were held, and official statistics have shown record low participation.
Despite all the harsh suppressions, arrests and record number of executions in Iran, as well as very high inflation, there is no prospect of any reduction in the continuous protests and strike actions. Given that the Islamic Republic has no horizon or ability to provide a way out of the current dire political and economical situation in the face of the mass protests, the role of the working class in Iran has become more pivotal in the current circumstances.
