Listen to the meeting HERE. At our WIN meeting on Sunday 10th November we discussed a question which has worldwide significance: the many implications of the US presidential elections. Has a definitive result been achieved? Will either candidate have gained a decisive victory, and will it be accepted by both parties? Should socialists have supported either candidate? Is it right to define Trump as a fascist? Is the USA descending into chaos and even civil war? To what extent is the widening split in its ruling circles related to the declining global power of the USA? What role can the organised labour movement play? And what are the prospects for the birth of an independent workers’ party? The veteran trade unionist Jack Gerson introduced this vital discussion. We also welcomed a number of other US worker activists to contribute their ideas and experiences.
