A WIN discussion, November 2024. LISTEN TO THE DISCUSSION HERE
Israel’s genocidal onslaught on the entire population of Gaza has outraged workers throughout the world. Now the war has spread to the West Bank, Lebanon and beyond, and threatens an all-out regional conflagration throughout the Middle East. How will this horrific war end? What will be its long-term repercussions? Will it precipitate a new Arab Spring? Can Israel prevail? Will the Zionist project even survive?
This week WIN invited you to hear a leading expert on the background to the war. Elaine Bradley is an organisational consultant, an independent scholar and a human rights activist. She has worked extensively in Palestine – mostly in Gaza – on projects linked to social justice and human rights with organisations including Medical Aid for Palestinians, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the Union of Agricultural Work Committees. Out of her experiences in Palestine Elaine devised and taught the module ‘Palestine and Israel: Conflict or Colonialism?’ in the MPhil in race, ethnicity and conflict, Department of Sociology, Trinity College, Dublin. Elaine is a founding member of Academics for Palestine.
