FROM WIN – Dear Comrade George Martin.
I am writing on behalf of the Organising Committee of the Workers’ International Network, to send you our solidarity and support for your heroic struggle.
We condemn the action of the China National Uranium Corporation Limited in dismissing the Rossing branch executive committee of the Mineworkers’ Union of Namibia, and its record of suppression of shop-steward and trade-union rights. We call to the attention of trade unionist activists worldwide the vicious strikebreaking and union-busting activities of Chinese state corporations in smashing unions, imposing zero-hour contracts, out-sourcing labour, using labour brokers, cancelling weekends, using convict labour, paying racist discriminatory differential pay rates, and destroying entire natural environments. We are all the more outraged at the fact that these capitalist robber-baron techniques of exploitation are being imposed by a state hypocritically masquerading under a false disguise of “communism”. We salute your struggle and pledge our solidarity in our common fight against capitalist exploitation worldwide.
